In addition to being a destination of local history and culture, Wapakoneta’s Historic Downtown is a thriving district that is brimming with diverse shops, professional offices and restaurants. Storefronts are filled with antiques and specialty products while the restaurants in between serve up eclectic menus to hungry shoppers. A variety of other specialty shops offer a wide range of shopping pleasures. For food and spirits, the downtown offers historic cafes, diners, and restaurants to satisfy a wide range of culinary desires. Great food and beverages can also be obtained at a number of Wapakoneta’s service clubs.
Make sure to make a stop at the bustling Wapakoneta Farmer’s Market behind downtown in Heritage Park, which offers local produce and goods every Saturday morning from June through October. Check out a number of antique shops, which have become a favorite among shoppers. Also located downtown, an antique mall showcases more than 25,000 square feet of antique wares. Two-hundred booths and exhibitions make a home in the antique mall, selling unique collectibles, books, antique furniture, vintage clothing, jewelry, glass and much more.
Outside of the Downtown district, the community offers plenty of neighborhood convenience stores, department stores and strip malls packed with an assortment of retailers and restaurateurs. Plus, Wapakoneta hosts “Restaurant Row” at exit 111 on I-75, which houses a number of well-known national chain restaurants. The dining selection along this busy row, in Downtown and on the outskirts of town is impressive and includes everything from restaurants serving up breakfast favorites, signature sandwiches, soups and pizza to those specializing in flavorful ethnic dishes. Recently constructed Wal-Mart and Lowes have added additional shopping appeal to the “Row”.
